Request your academic records
M.D. graduates:
If you need documentation for a licensing board, contact the IU School of Medicine.
Important info: Transcripts with degree information
If you’re a recent graduate, your degree won’t appear on your transcript right away. Academic programs have two weeks after the semester’s end to confirm students have fulfilled all necessary degree requirements. If you order a transcript before then, be sure to indicate on the order that the transcript should be held until your degree appears.
Request a transcript
Your transcript is a copy of your permanent academic record—think of it as an academic inventory of your time as a student at Indiana University that shows all your coursework, grades, and degrees completed at any IU campus.
The process for getting your transcript is different depending on whether you want an unofficial transcript or an official transcript. Transcript details:
- Transcripts are only official when sent directly from IU to the recipient listed on the request and will display the Registrar’s signature and the University seal. If opened or accessed and shared with another party, transcripts are then considered unofficial.
- Electronic transcripts are official transcripts. Many institutions now prefer electronic transcripts to paper transcripts. Please confirm with your recipient which format they prefer.
- Official Indiana University transcripts are free. Expedited delivery of paper transcripts is available for a fee.
- Unofficial transcripts are available only to current or recent students who are able to log in to their One.IU account. If you’re unable to log in, request an official transcript. Note: An unofficial transcript does not contain the IU seal or Registrar’s signature.
Check out frequently asked questions, and see what information appears on transcripts.
How do I send my transcript to IU Indianapolis?
Start by contacting the Office of Admissions. If your school sends transcripts electronically and the transcript vendor requires an email address for delivery, please use mycredit@iu.edu.

How do I verify my current or past enrollment at IU Indianapolis?
If you need to prove that you attended or graduated from an Indiana University campus, but do not require grades or course information, a verification is a free alternative to a transcript.
Reasons you may need to verify enrollment include:
- Getting or keeping insurance (for example, good student discount on car insurance or to stay on your parents’ health insurance)
- Deferring your loans until after you graduate
- Informing employers or screening firms of your education
- Responding to calls for jury duty
Find information and forms to request your enrollment verification.
Duplicate diplomas
Can I get a copy of my diploma?
Yes. If you’ve changed your name, want to display your paper diploma in multiple locations, or if you just want a fresh copy, you can request a duplicate copy.
Can I change my name on a duplicate diploma?
Yes. Your name will be printed on your duplicate diploma exactly as it appears on your student record so if you’ve changed your name since leaving the university, you’ll need to change your degree name BEFORE ordering a duplicate diploma.

You’ll usually get your duplicate diploma in about three to five weeks when using Express shipping or domestic delivery. International delivery through the U.S. Postal Service may take up to eight additional weeks and doesn’t provide tracking information. We highly recommend purchasing Express delivery for diplomas sent to international addresses.
Can I get a copy of my certified electronic diploma (ceDiploma)?
If you graduated from an IU campus after May 2018, you’re eligible to purchase a certified electronic diploma (ceDiploma)—an official, secure, and verifiable proof of your degree completion.
Apostille requests
An apostille certifies that a document is a true copy of the original. Official documents that will be used outside of the United States often require an apostille.
To request an apostille on your Indiana University transcript:
- Complete and sign a transcript apostille request form.
- Include a pre-addressed, postage-paid envelope (U.S. Postal Service, UPS, or FedEx).
- Follow the instructions for submitting the form.
- If you need to request an apostille for your diploma, please contact the Office of the Registrar.
Note that it will take five to seven business days to process your request, so plan ahead. Processing a document with an apostille takes extra time, because it must be sent to the Indiana Secretary of State before it can be delivered.
