Create your IU Indianapolis account
It’s time to set up your first IU account. It takes 24 hours for it to activate. If you’re wondering whether you already have an account, look up your university ID. If you previously created an account with any IU campus, you don’t need to create a new one. To reset your passphrase, follow these steps. For more help, call 317-274-HELP.
Register for your classes
After you set up your technology account, register for classes. Doing so quickly will ensure you have the broadest selection of courses.

Pay your deposit if you have not done so already. You can request a waiver of fees, which makes it free. Please note: Fall 2024 deposits may be waived due to changes with the FAFSA. The deposit is $100.

Learn about your housing options
You have a choice to live on or off the IU Indianapolis campus. Campus housing is in high demand. New, first-time IU Indianapolis freshmen can pay a $200 fee to reserve a spot as soon as possible after admission. Housing assignments are made in July.

Reserve your spot as early as possible to ensure the most selection of orientation dates and classes. Orientation reservations begin in February for summer and fall admission and in October for spring admission.

Take your placement tests
Placement tests assess your knowledge and determine which classes will help you be successful at IU Indianapolis. They include ALEKS Math Placement, English Guided Self-Placement, chemistry, world languages, English for Academic Purposes.

Submit your CrimsonCard photo
Your CrimsonCard is your official photo ID card and gives you secure entry to buildings, printing services, university libraries, dining areas, and sports and recreation facilities. It is also accepted as payment at many local retailers.
Provide immunization information
Indiana state law requires all IU Indianapolis students to have current immunizations. Contribute to keeping our campus community healthy.

If your self-reported GPA was under a 3.0, we may also ask you for your high school transcript.

Complete your SEVIS form and pay the SEVIS fee
The Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) is the US Department of Homeland Security’s way of monitoring students using the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) to travel to the US for education. Complete the required forms through US Customs and Immigration.
Take EAP Placement Test
If you were required to provide proof of English proficiency for admission purposes, you will probably also be required to take the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Placement Test.
