Submit by the Cox Scholarship deadlines: February 15 (incoming freshmen); April 1 (current students)
Application requirements
To apply to become a Cox Scholar, you must be:
- Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (carrying 12 or more credit hours) on the IU Indianapolis campus.
- Pursuing your first undergraduate degree.
- Maintaining a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- A US citizen and resident of the state of Indiana.
- Able to demonstrate a commitment to funding your own education by working to contribute at least 25% of the standard cost of attendance OR showing 300 total worked hours a year.
- An incoming freshman OR a currently enrolled IU Indianapolis undergraduate student.
- Able to demonstrate financial need by submitting the FAFSA.
Award amount and deadlines
- Scholarships range between $5,000–$15,000 per year and are typically based on your aid package.
- All materials, including the FAFSA, must be submitted by the following deadlines:
Incoming Freshman deadline: February 15
Current IU Indianapolis student deadline: April 1 - Please apply early to ensure we receive all of your application materials by the deadline.
- If you are selected as a finalist, you will be notified within three weeks of the deadline to schedule an online interview.
- Recipients will be notified four weeks after the deadline.
Steps to apply
- Begin the IU Scholarships application.
- Complete all questions on the “General Application,” then click “Finish and Submit.” This should be completed before applying for a Cox Scholarship. Please ensure that you answer all questions thoroughly.
- Select “Other Recommended Opportunities.”
- Search for “Cox.”
- Select the “IU Indianapolis-Jesse H. & Beulah Chanley Cox Scholarship” and complete the application with all required documents to apply.
- File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the Cox Scholarship application deadline.
