First-Day Welcome from Chancellor Ramchand

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

What a privilege it is to be writing to you and sharing this video message on my first day as your new chancellor.

I am honored to serve as the inaugural chancellor of IU Indianapolis and to work with all of you to launch the next chapter in the history of our campus.

I want to thank the leaders who came before me in this role and also want to extend my gratitude to all of our faculty, staff, and students who have made this university what it is today. It is the foundation you built that will allow us to grow in service and excellence.

While we will always hold true to our values as student-centered, inclusive, collaborative, innovative, and resourceful, we will also rise to the promise of this pivotal moment. Together, we will make IU Indianapolis the destination of choice for learners from around the world. We will be an urban change-maker as we educate the next generation of learners, drive research, and serve the workforce needs of our state. Working together, we will build one of the nation’s premier urban research universities that will take all of us further than we ever imagined.

In my first few months, my primary objectives will be to listen and learn from all of you about your aspirations for IU Indianapolis. This moment holds so much opportunity, and we can turn each of those opportunities into realities.

In the days to come, if you see me on campus or in the community, please introduce yourself. I cannot wait to meet you and the rest of the Jaguar family.
