Apply to the Bowen Scholars Program
What is the Bowen Scholars Program?
The Bowen Scholars Program at IU Indianapolis supports Ivy Tech Bowen Scholars and select students who have participated in an Educational Equity Program (EEP) during their first year at IU Indianapolis. The scholarship provides up to $2,000 per semester toward the cost of attendance for up to three years, in addition to program support.
Educational Equity Program Bowen Scholars
Educational Equity Program participants who are second year students at IU Indianapolis are eligible to apply if they meet the following criteria:
- Maintain good academic standing in their degree program.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Plan to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study.
- Participated in and demonstrate commitment to continue full participation in one or more of the following IU Indianapolis programs: 21st Century Scholars, Diversity Enrichment and Achievement Program (DEAP), Indy Achieves, THRIVE, TRIO Student Support Services, or Upward Bound.
During the application window, interested students can apply through the IU Scholarship Portal, and will require the following materials:
- Application
- Responses to supplemental questions
- Completed FAFSA
- One letter of reference from an Educational Equity Program staff member that speaks to your program engagement
Applications are due November 1 for spring semester consideration and April 1 for fall consideration.
Ivy Tech Bowen Scholars
Ivy Tech Bowen Scholars who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- Maintained good standing in the Ivy Tech Bowen Scholars Program
- Admitted to IU Indianapolis
- Earned an associate degree or are in select Ivy Tech degree programs and have successfully executed a transfer plan developed with the Office of IU Indianapolis/Ivy Tech Coordinated Programs and approved by the Ivy Tech Bowen Scholars program manager
Applicants should contact the Ivy Tech Bowen Scholars Director to apply. The following materials will be required:
- Application
- Essay
- Ivy Tech transcript
- FAFSA (completed by March 1)
- Letter of recommendation
Applications are due November 1 for spring semester consideration and April 1 for fall consideration.
