These steps are personalized based on your answers. All steps are required unless otherwise noted.
Take your onboarding course and attend any school/program-specific orientation
Graduate and professional students should complete the online onboarding course. Not all graduate and professional programs offer orientation, but for those that do, this course supplements that orientation.
Start pre-arrival checklist in Atlas
You will use Atlas to request services from the Office of International Affairs throughout your time at IU Indianapolis. Be sure to complete Pre-Arrival Steps 1 and 2 before beginning your academic program to ensure a successful educational experience.
Reserve orientation
Orientation is a personalized introduction to the IU Indianapolis campus and your educational journey. You’ll meet with your advisor, register for classes, and more. Reserve your spot as early as possible to ensure the most selection of orientation dates and fall classes.
Orientation reservations begin in February for summer and fall admission and in October for spring admission.

Undergraduate orientation is a personalized introduction to the IU Indianapolis campus and your educational journey. If you plan to be in the country before International Welcome Week, we encourage you to attend. You’ll meet your advisor, register for classes, and more.
Space fills up quickly, so reserve your spot as early as possible. If you don’t see a date that works for you, please contact Orientation Services.
Complete Jaguar Launch
This hour-long, online module introduces you to resources and campus offices and teaches you what you’ll need to know about college life, such as financial aid, changing your major, housing options, campus safety, and more.
Take your placement tests
Placement tests assess your knowledge and determine which classes will help you be successful at IU Indianapolis. They include ALEKS Math Placement, English Guided Self-Placement, chemistry, world languages, and English for Academic Purposes.

Provide immunization information
Indiana state law requires all IU Indianapolis students to have current immunizations. Contribute to keeping our campus community healthy.

Enroll in classes on your own, or ask your academic advisor for help. Remember to register as early as you can, so you have the broadest selection of classes to meet your needs.
Submit your CrimsonCard photo
Your CrimsonCard is your official photo ID card and gives you secure entry to buildings, printing services, university libraries, dining areas, and sports and recreation facilities. It is also accepted as payment at many local retailers. Submit a photo and verify your identity in advance so your card will be ready for pickup at orientation.
