Funding to meet unexpected needs

If you’re facing an unexpected financial challenge or nearing graduation with limited remaining funds, seek emergency financial aid.

What qualifies as an emergency?

Examples of emergencies include unexpected car repair (excluding regular car maintenance), unexpected home repair, computer/technology repair, students facing eviction, and food insecurity.

Requirements vary based on award program. However, most resources require students to meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled at least half time at IU Indianapolis in a degree or eligible certificate program
  • Have exhausted all available federal and state financial aid funds
  • Are experiencing a one-time, unexpected financial emergency

Exceptions to these criteria may be made on a case-by-case basis. To help determine your eligibility and to apply for funding, please complete our online application.
