What is Indy Achieves?

More than 60% of jobs in the state of Indiana require a postsecondary credential or degree, but only 42% of Marion County residents meet these qualifications. Indy Achieves is a supplemental scholarship program for Marion County residents who already receive state financial aid while attending IU Indianapolis.

Indy Achieves scholars receive last-dollar scholarship that covers the gap between students’ financial needs and the tuition cost. Scholars also participate in a coaching cohort and receive individualized support while at IU Indianapolis.

Who is eligible for Indy Achieves?

Students who already receive Indiana state financial aid, such as 21st Century Scholars Program participants or Frank O’Bannon Grant recipients, are automatically considered for Indy Achieves.

The Indy Achieves Promise Scholarship is renewable so long as students meet the following requirements each year:

  • File the FAFSA by the March 20th priority deadline every year.
  • Remain eligible for state financial aid.
  • Complete at least 30 credit hours each academic year.
  • Earn satisfactory academic progress (SAP) as determined by your college.

How do I apply for Indy Achieves?

There’s no application! When you apply for IU Indianapolis admission, we’ll check your eligibility based on the above criteria. If you meet the qualifications, we’ll notify you of your Indy Achieves Promise Scholarship, and you’ll unlock access to the financial and coaching support available through the program.

Coaching cohort: Dedicated support for your success

As part of the program, you’ll join a coaching cohort comprised of other Indy Achieves Promise Scholars starting college the same year as you. Each cohort is supported by an Indy Achieves success coach who:

  • Regularly meets with you one-on-one to deliver individualized support.
  • Helps you set goals and develop strategies for success with your career, educational, and personal growth.
  • Coordinates community-building opportunities to connect you with campus and the rest of your cohort.
  • Connects you with campus resources, offices, and opportunities.
