Congratulations on your re-admission to IU Indianapolis. We're excited to have you rejoin the Jaguar family, and we want to make your steps for enrolling as a returning student as smooth as possible. That's why we've outlined some steps as soon as you're admitted, as well as those you'll need to take care of a little later.
Welcome home, Jaguar
Steps you can complete as soon as you're re-admitted
There are several steps you can take care of as soon as you're admitted that will help you finalize your future as a Jaguar. Telling us you intend to enroll, reactivating computing accounts, and in some cases, housing or financial aid, to name a few.
Once you are admitted to IU Indianapolis, you’ll receive a letter of admission via email, as well as some additional messages in the following days which includes the following:
- University ID number: You’ll use this number to create your computing account, as well as in other scenarios throughout your time at IU Indianapolis.
- School/division: Your school is the academic unit to which you have been admitted. Your school will provide your academic advising.
- Major: Your major is your proposed area of study. Acceptance into a major is selective. If your school is University College, you will complete prerequisite courses in your first two semesters to gain admission into your intended major.
- Residency/tuition: Your residency determines whether you will pay in-state or out-of-state tuition.
- Starting term: Your admission is valid only for the term indicated. To start in a different term, use our application update form to request a change of term.
If there are any errors in your admission information, please email us at apply@iu.edu if you were admitted through Undergraduate Admissions, or iapply@iu.edu if you were admitted through International Admissions.
If you don’t have an existing university computing account, you’ll need your university ID number, found in your admission email, to set up your account. Go to One.IU, search for “create my first IU account,” and select that task, then create your username and passphrase, passphrase reset questions, and email address.
If you have already created an account at any IU campus, you can learn how to reset your passphrase using these directions.
After you’ve created your computing account, you can use One.IU to update your personal information, view your financial aid package, and, if applicable, see your Transfer Credit Report.
- After you’ve signed in, set your role to “Student” using the All Roles dropdown menu in the upper right under the searchbox or by selecting Roles in the menu on your mobile device.
- Select the “Student Center” default icon. If the icon doesn’t appear in your default view, type “Student Center” in the search bar.
- Select the task(s) you want to perform.
Need help with your computing account? Contact the University Information Technology Services Support Center at 317-274-HELP (4357) or ithelp@iu.edu.
Once you are re-admitted to IU Indianapolis, and have completed courses at another college or university since you were last enrolled here, you’ll be able to view your detailed Transfer Credit Report approximately two to three weeks after you’re notified of your acceptance. This report will list all the courses you’ve taken at other institutions, indicate whether each course will transfer, and note the equivalent course at IU Indianapolis for which you’ll get credit.
If you are transferring from another IU campus, the courses you took within the IU system will not appear on your report. Instead, they will be on your transcript as the course you enrolled in.
To view your Transfer Credit Report, go to One.IU and search for “transfer credits.” Select the “Transfer Credits” app box, then log in using your IU Indianapolis username and passphrase. (If you haven’t created your IU Indianapoliscomputing account yet, see the step abov of this checklist for instructions on how to do that.)
Transfer students are not required to accept their offer of admission with an enrollment deposit. Instead, we ask that you let us know that you plan to enroll at IU Indianapolis for the term you've been admitted by completing our short form.

As a returning student, you do not need to attend orientation or complete placement exams. Your academic advisor will help you with the process of planning your schedule and registering for classes.
You should also visit the Student Center in One.IU to make sure that you don’t have any financial or academic holds that could prevent you from registering for classes.
Indiana state law requires IU Indianapolis to inform all students of the risks of meningococcal disease, commonly known as meningitis, and the benefits of vaccination. While you are not required to be vaccinated against meningitis, you must complete the Immunization Compliance Form.
