Apply to the CREA Scholars Program

With priority given to students from affordable housing communities, the CREA Scholars Program at IU Indianapolis helps selected students overcome financial barriers to earning their degree.

What is the CREA Scholars Program?

Through the generosity of the CREA Foundation, IU Indianapolis offers the CREA Scholars Program to select students, especially those in attendance from affordable housing communities.

The CREA Scholars Program provides scholarship funds in varying amounts, averaging $5,000. Additionally, scholars participate in one of the following programs: Student Support Services (SSS); Diversity, Enrichment, and Achievement Program (DEAP); 21st Century Scholars; or the THRIVE Program.

Who is eligible for CREA Scholars?

To be considered for the CREA Scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Be a resident of Indiana.
  • Admitted to IU Indianapolis as an incoming freshman.
  • Demonstrate financial need and Pell eligibility.
  • Plan to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study.
  • Demonstrate commitment to fully participate in one or more of the following IU Indianapolis support programs: Student Support Services (SSS); Diversity, Enrichment, and Achievement Program (DEAP); 21st Century Scholars; or the THRIVE Program.
  • Additionally, the funder has a preference for applicants facing financial barriers to success, especially those from affordable housing communities.

How to apply for the CREA Scholars Program

Students can apply to the CREA Scholars program through the IU Scholarship Portal, and will need the following materials:

  • Application
  • Responses to supplemental questions
  • High school transcripts
  • FAFSA (completed by March 1)
  • Two recommenders

Apply by April 1 for fall consideration.
