Pre-admission to IU Indianapolis
IU Indianapolis is participating in Indiana’s pre-admission program for students who earn the new Enrollment Honors Plus Seal diploma. Please see below for additional information and FAQs.
Pre-admission FAQs
In December 2024 a new high school diploma design was adopted for the State of Indiana. You can find information regarding the new diploma design through the Indiana Department of Education.
Per this statute, the new diploma requirements may first be available for students entering high school in fall 2025 and be required of all graduating seniors in the 2028–2029 academic year.
On April 2, 2025, Indiana Governor, Mike Braun, announced a partnership between the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and higher education institutions, including Indiana University, to offer pre-admission to graduating high school seniors who earn the new Enrollment Honors Plus Seal diploma.
Graduating Indiana high school seniors who will have earned the new Enrollment Honors Plus Seal diploma by the point of their high school graduation will be offered pre-admission.
The Pre-Admission initiative for the Class of 2025 promoted the value of postsecondary education by informing seniors of the colleges to which they were admissible. Admission eligibility was based on students’ junior-year grades and test scores (if applicable) matched against the criteria of participating colleges. For the Class of 2026, the criteria have changed–IU Indy will now pre-admit students who have earned the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal.
Yes, students eligible for pre-admission must still submit a complete application for admission to Indiana University Indianapolis. Either the Common Application or Apply IU application are accepted at IU Indy.
Students will be required to follow the steps to enroll, including the submission of their final transcript confirming completion of the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal diploma and graduation.
Pre-admission does not equal or guarantee admission to an academic school or major and does not ensure admission to the academic school or major of the student’s choice.
A student's senior year performance is important as it is the final preparation before they begin their college career at IU.
Being offered pre-admission does not guarantee admission if a student’s academic performance falls below an acceptable threshold during the student’s senior year of high school. Based on grade trends or overall performance, we may request a copy of your senior year grades (seventh or eighth semester) to confirm the student is on track to be successful at IU.
Students will submit a final transcript confirming completion of the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal diploma and graduation.
A student’s eligibility to complete the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal diploma is a condition of pre-admission, however a student is still required to submit a complete application for admission to IU Indianapolis and will be fully evaluated for admission.
If the student receives an offer of admission to IU Indianapolis and does not complete the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal by the time of graduation, this does not mean their offer of admission will be automatically rescinded. The Office of Admissions will review the academic information provided as part of the complete application for demonstrated evidence of continued academic readiness.

Yes. Students who submit a complete application and meet the admissions standards will be given full consideration for admission to IU.
Pre-admission does not guarantee admission if the student is later found responsible for academic dishonesty, for a violation of high school student conduct regulations, or for a criminal violation.
